Jammu and Kashmir has a lesser known beauty – named Patnitop which can also be written as Patni top. I was recently here in Patni Top and man, what beauty it was! I was fortunate enough to see snowfall even in the month of March. It felt like I am visiting Switzerland.

Located in Udhampur district Patnitop is so beautiful that people often confuse it with a foreign land. It falls right in the idle of Jammu and Srinagar in a place called Udhampur. You can see the beautiful chenab river flowing right beside you.

All in all, it was an incredible experience to be here. I wish to visit this place again and again until my heart screams out stop. Which I guess won’t be anytime soon. Now let me re-live my good travel memories by writing this blog about Patnitop.

Top 5 BEST Places to Visit in Patnitop

Nathatop

The snowclad top at a height of 2700m from the ground level looks like a mini Switzerland. Its mesmerizing beauty will make every penny worthwhile. You can even go for skiing in these pure white snow-covered hill tops.

As you go to the top you see the majestic Himalayas waving at you from the distance. It makes the experience all the more worthwhile. Not just skiing, you explore your adventurous side by going for paragliding. This beautiful place a crowd of people from all across the world. Its pristine beauty makes every corner look magical.

You get to click some of the most amazing photos. If you are visiting in the summer months – especially May and June then you will the see the carpeted green grasses laid underneath your feet. Its softness, its clarity and its beauty will keep you mesmerized.

Nag (Cobra) Temple

Nag Madir or Cobra temple is as you can guess by the name – A temple dedicated to the Goddess of Snake. In India we call Snake as Nag. And we worship Nag in the form of a female goddess. Every year during Nag Panchami we worship Nag Goddess.

Many bhakts or devotees of Lord Shiva are a worshipers of Nag Goddess since, lord Shiva has nag tied on his head. This temp near patnitop sees a ton of footfalls everyday and mostly during Nag Panchami.

Patni Top Circular Road

If snow is what your heart calls out for, then this road is the place to be. Its quite scary to drive around here. But if you are going with an expert driver then there is nothing to worry about. If you are visiting in January or February, then you will see snow covered roads which will make you feel like you are in a foreign land. Surrounded by Pinewood trees this beautiful landscape makes your travel memory a great one.

Madhatop

When in Patnitop you cannot miss Madhatop. It is situated at a hight of approximately 2000m. You can take a car or bus upto Madhatop. If you are an adventurous person like me, then you can go for trekking directly from patnitop. It is going to be a great experience climbing those hilly terrains.

Sanasar

Another beautiful place in Jammu & Kashmir, Sansar is a place with tall trees, rolling hills, meandering streets and large stretches of vast green lawns. You can indulge in trekking, rock climbing, paragliding and many other adventurous activities. This is a cup-shaped places with tall giant mountains surrounding it from al sides. The place gets its name from two local lakes where you can sit and watch the water flow by.

Honestly, Jammu and Kashmir is an excellent travel destination. If you are going to Jammu and Kashmir then this place should be on the top of your list. I hope you liked my described of Patnitop.
