These are the 5 places that you can’t resist to visit once you know the mythology that lies in their soil.
Sherwood Forest (England) -
So let’s go back to the when Granny told us stories about The legendary Robin Hood. The man robbing the filthy rich and helping the poor. Definitely there isn’t any Robin Hood roaming around in this forest, or is he? To find out there is no way but one, to go exploring the woods. Located in Nottinghamshire, England, the forest covers a land of over 1000 acres, which is a National Natural Reserve and receives a roughly about 350,000 visitors annually.

Mount Olympus (Greece) -
Next we are on our way to meet Greek Gods, Aphrodite, Poseidon, and Zeus, living at the zenith of Mt. Olympus. Almost 10,000 feet above sea level, it is one of the prominent peaks in Europe. The stunning mountain borders Greek and Macedonia and is quite accessible to tourists all over the world. Casual hikers are often spotted around the foothills while trained climbers aim for the peaks of the Mytikas Hill.
Atlantis (Dubai, UAE) -
There is none who isn’t aware of The Lost world Atlantis. It has always been a fascinating topic of discussion for travelers, explorers and common men. It is believed to be a paradise hidden under the vast ocean, a mythical city well equipped in technology, science, rich culture and incredible flora. Initially it was a place envisioned by Plato, which is now believed to be a complete utopian nation. El Dorado (Machu Pichu, Peru) -
Next stop the golden city of El Dorado. If one takes the slightest interest in Bengali literature, he should be knowing about Shankar’s travel diaries penned down by famous author Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay, and his expidition to discover the most sought after place in history. Well we don’t know whether Shankar or his travel mates ever came across land of golds but we do know about a similar destination for travel freaks.
Machu Pichu is this incredible Incan city located in Peru, and have history stating that it was indeed home to Incan emperor Pachacuti. Just like how Satyajit Ray had described the golden forts of Rajasthan in his famous detective series, when sunlight is casted upon the ruins of this city in Peru, no man alive would deny that every brick seems to be made of gold.
Mind-blowing rugged terrains, green mountains and valleys surrounding the ruin, makes the place look like it had been curated by God’s own hands.
Asgard (Tromso, Norway) -
If there should be a secret passageway or stone bridge joining the God’s land to ours, it should be somewhere around Norse. As mythology is concerned, especially Norse mythology, a close study will reveal Asgard as the home of Gods. The land is supposed to be filled with magnificent bridges of light ,grand silver mansions and Valhalla, the hall where the greatest of Norse warriors gather to celebrate abundance and prosperity.
It is assumed that Tromso, in Northern Norway, is the only place to experience the indulgence of the Celestial City. Surrounded by dramatic mountaintops, the stunning Northern Lights ,the beautiful geographic location as an island on the fjord, it caters to both the Arctic wilderness and Norwegian city life in righteous ways.
