1. Pushkar Lake
Visiting Pushkar is incomplete without a trip to the massive Pushkar Lake which is surrounded by as many as fifty ghats. The lake is located in Ajmer and attracts a large number of tourists to the region to admire the beauty of the lake. It is believed that Lord Brahma was searching for a suitable place to meditate and he dropped a lotus which led him to this place called the Pushkar Lake. Later the lake was named Pushkar and several tourists make their way to this place to chant prayers and ask the Lord for his blessings. During the Pushkar Fair, several pilgrims take a dip in the Holy Water. The ambience around the lake is extremely calm and peaceful for the visitors to feel comforted. The rich flora and fauna of the surrounding region are also fascinating.
2. Brahma Temple
Another brilliant temple in Rajasthan in the Pushkar region is the Brahma Temple which is dedicated to the Lord Brahma. The ancient temple was constructed in the fourteenth century and is considered as one of the few remaining temples of Lord Brahma in the country. The temple is situated close to Pushkar Lake and the magnificent pillars and the carvings on the walls are gorgeous. Constructed with marbles and stones the pillar structures also bear excellent bird motifs which are admired by the devotees. 3. Pushkar camel fair
Annual Camel Fair which is also referred to as the Kartik Mela is held every year around the time of November. The Fair is held for eight days to promote the camel traders by displaying the camels in vibrant colours and decorations. The camel fair is an extremely jubilant festival of the town which helps the locals to initiate business and sales of the camels. The festival is characterised by puppet shows, traditional dances and instrumental songs put up by the locals for entertaining the tourists and visitors. Camel parades are held and the snake charmers also display magnificent performances for the spectators. The entry fees are zero for visiting the fair however the viewers are charged nominally for watching the shows and performances held in the fair.
4. Varaha Temple
The Varaha Temple is dedicated to the Hindu God, Lord Vishnu and is situated in the centre of the city. The ancient artwork and the magnificence of the decoration will leave you surprised. The tourists are interested to seek blessings from the Lord and admire the gorgeous artwork and decoration of the building. Varaha is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu who is worshipped in this part of the town. God seems to bear the form of a boar. The fascinating dome structure and the white marble pillars are the specialities of five temples that are visited by devotees around the year. The pilgrims do not have to pay for entering the premises and the temple remains open from sunrise to sunset for the devotees to enter the temple and seek blessings from Lord Varaha.
5. Savitri Temple to the goddess
The Savitri Temple is located at the peak of the Ratnagiri temple and the tourists have to climb a distance of 200 stairs to reach the hilltop. The temple is dedicated to the wife of Lord Brahma, Devi Gayatri. The temple located at the top of the cliff offers an incredible view of the town to the visitors who are taken aback by the beauty of the city. The epic tales narrate that Devi Gayatri rested in this part of Pushkar which compelled the devotees to erect a temple dedicated to the goddess. The scenic beauty of the surroundings and mesmerising view is surely going to leave you awed. There are no entry fees charged for the tourists to enter the premises and the temple remains open from six in the morning to nine at night.
