Here we’re talking about US’s 9th most populous state so it’s likely that a lot of amusement and aesthetic beauty is awaiting to unfold. Bordered by Virginia on the north and the Atlantics in the east, North Carolina has a quite favorable climate and geographic location. Hence here begins our exploration in the terrains of Carolina. 1. The Biltmore Estate

Location – 1 Lodge Street, Asheville, North Carolina

This whole place has a history of its own and one of the top attractions in Asheville. The Mansion expanse over an area of 8,000 acres. More commonly known as the Vanderbilt Mansion, it is the largest private home in the United States.

250 rooms with intricate artwork, flawless antique and architecture, they’re sure to give you the righteous feel of vintage style and culture.

2. Battleship  North Carolina

Location - Battleship Road NE,  Wilmington, North Carolina

When the WWII is the topic under discussion, the subject never fails to intrigue our brain cells. Located in Wilmington, the USS North Carolina was the first of 10 battleships to join the American fleet in the war on April 9, 1941.

To the relief of history enthusiasts, all tourists are allowed to raom around the ship, and take a look at the mess hall or the sailor’s and officer’s quarters.

The vessel is well armed with 16-inch, 45-caliber guns in three turrets, and 20 five-inch, 38 caliber guns in 10 twin mounts. Sounds intimidating right?

3. Linville Gorge And Falls

The "Grand Canyon of The East", is the largest gorge of  Eastern United States. Needless to say the places speaks for itself with an eye catching scenic beauty.

Located in the Pisgah National Forest, the Linville River makes its entry in to the gorge through Linville Falls with  a drop of 90 feet.

The region is accessible to tourists at Milepost 316 on the Blue Ridge Pathway, offering a grand 1.6 mile round-trip hike.

4. North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences

Location- 11 West Jones Street , Raleigh , North Carolina

The oldest Museum in the state is sure to  take your breath away with the exhibits, interactive learning opportunities, educational presentations and many more.

The Museum displays are segregated into two buildings: The Natural Exploration Center and the Nature Research Center.

Sections dealing with the habitats of the tropics and rainforest, are also in abundance.

"Terror of the South", the only genuine Acrocanthosaurus skeleton on display in the world, is the main attraction of this Museum.

5. North Carolina Aquarium

The North Carolina Aquarium is a center of myriad shades right from the color palette. It has four coastal locations at Roanoke Island, Pine Knoll Shores, Fort Fisher, and Jenette’s Pier although Jenette’s Pier is not an aquarium in true sense, it offers a great view of marine fishes in their natural habitat.

The Humpback Whales spotted here along with a large collection of sharks around the Roanake  Island,  maneuvers tourists round the clock.

6. North Carolina Zoo

Location – 4401 zoo Pkwy , Asheboro, North Carolina

Lush Greenland filled with a variety of 1600 fauna and 52000 flora, the zoo in North Carolina is a perfect place of interest for adults and children. The area covers almost five miles of shaded pathways and is located in the heart of Ashboro.

Animal species represent elephants, rhinos, ostriches, lions and chimps all the way from Africa.

North American cougars, alligators, roadrunners and red wolves are spotted in abundance.

7. Cape Hatteras

Location- Manteo, North Carolina

The area comprises the important barrier islands along North Carolina’s coast in the Outer Banks region. This spot has a marking significance in terms of being the country’s first coastal preservation area.
