5. Jatinga, Assam

However, there is one more reason behind the popularity of the village. It is believed that around the time of the monsoon every year birds commit mass suicide here. After sunset, several birds are found lying dead regularly.
The locals say that there must be some evil spirit in the air behind the mass killing while the ornithologists have suggested evidence like due to dense fog, the birds while flying in the sky are unable to see the trees and end up getting hit by them. The mystery remains unresolved as people are divided in their opinion and unable to conclude the massive death of birds every year around the same time.
